Rubik’s Cube: The Second Layer
08/1/08I’ll introduce now the ALGORITHMS (pattern of movements).
Algorithm Legends:
F(Front)
R(Right)
U(Up)
D(Down)
L(Left)
To avoid confusion, I did not include the B (Back) algorithm.
The (’) sign is used to indicate the “inverted” rotation of the face of the cube.
Each movement must rotate CLOCKWISE, if it has the (’) sign it must rotate COUNTERCLOCKWISE.
Provided that, you are actually facing the right side or face of the cube.
Case 1:
In this image, look at the red-green duoblock, it must be positioned to the left:
0×0 000
000 >> x00
000 000
In the diagram, the (X) or the block must transfer to its left provided it occupies the right color scheme.
The algorithm is:
L’ U’ L’ U’ L’ U L U L
Case 2:
In this image, look at the orange-green duoblock, it must be positioned to the right.
0×0 000
000 >> 00x
000 000
In the diagram, the (X) or the block must transfer to its right provided it occupies the right color scheme.
The algorithm is:
R U R U R U’ R’ U’ R’
After inserting all appropriate block to their proper places then check the base.
