Dreams:Facts
02/2/09Dreams are sequence images, sounds and feelings experienced while sleeping, strongly associated with rapid eye movement sleep. The contents and biological purposes of dreams are not fully understood, though they have been a topic of speculation and interest throughout recorded history. The scientific study of dreams is known as oneirology. (Wiki)
Other phenomena concerning dreams:
Lucid dreaming
Lucid dreaming is the conscious perception of one’s state while dreaming. In this state a person usually has control over characters and the environment of the dream as well as the dreamer’s own actions within the dream. The occurrence of lucid dreaming has been scientifically verified.
Oneironaut is a term sometimes used for those who lucidly dream.
Dreams of absent-minded transgression
Dreams of absent-minded transgression (DAMT) are dreams wherein the dreamer absentmindedly performs an action that he or she has been trying to stop (one classic example is of a quitting smoker having dreams of lighting a cigarette). Subjects who have had DAMT have reported waking with intense feelings of guilt. One study found a positive association between having these dreams and successfully stopping the behavior.
Dreaming and the “real world”
Dreams can link to actual sensations, such as the incorporation of environmental sounds into dreams such as hearing a phone ringing in a dream while it is ringing in reality, or dreaming of urination while wetting the bed. Except in the case of lucid dreaming, people dream without being aware that they are doing so. Some philosophers have concluded that what we think as the “real world” could be or is an illusion (an idea known as the skeptical hypothesis about ontology). The first recorded mention of the idea was by Zhuangzi, and was also discussed in Hinduism; Buddhism It was formally introduced to western philosophy by Descartes in the 17th century in his Meditations on First Philosophy. makes extensive use of the argument in its writings.
Recalling dreams
The recall of dreams is extremely unreliable, though it is a skill that can be trained. Dreams can usually be recalled if a person is awakened while dreaming. Women tend to have more frequent dream recall than men. Dreams that are difficult to recall may be characterized by relatively little affect, and factors such as salience, arousal, and interference play a role in dream recall. A dream journal can be used to assist dream recall, for psychotherapy or entertainment purposes. For some people, as their head touches their pillow as they go to bed at night, vague images or sensations from the previous night’s dreams are sometimes spontaneously experienced. However they are usually too slight and fleeting to allow dream recall.
Déjà vu
One theory of déjà vu attributes the feeling of having previously seen or experienced something to having dreamt about a similar situation or place, and forgetting about it until one seems to be mysteriously reminded of the situation or place while awake.
Dream incorporation
In one use of the term, “dream incorporation” is a phenomenon whereby an external stimulus, usually an auditory one, becomes a part of a dream, eventually then awakening the dreamer. There is a famous painting by Salvador Dalí that depicts this concept, titled “Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening” (1944).
The term “dream incorporation” is also used in research examining the degree to which preceding daytime events become elements of dreams. Recent studies suggest that events in the day immediately preceding, and those about a week before, have the most influence.
This implies how great God has made us…he gave us entertainment even we are asleep…

"Extras" Chapter 4: One Big Nuisance
02/1/09“Umm..I better get going ma’am, my dad is waiting for me, I had a great time talking to you..”
Van quickly fled the scene to avoid further embarrassment. He dodged his officemates to get home quickly. When he was going out, he accidentally bumped the boss’s bodyguard…”Watch where you’re going kid…and sweet dreams..*laughing*.”
“Ahh! What’s happening to me?” Van was in agony as if he was suffering from distress. When he got home, he confronted his dad. “Dad, how did they know all of those dreams I had lately?”
“ambot..undangi na nang pag english be..sunggo na ba..”
“tug.an sa tinuod Pa ba.gi.ingnan nimu sila no? Pa! tubag ba!..”
“gusto nimu mahibal.an tanan? Hala..sumbagi ko..”
Van punched his dad, but the only thing he felt was thin air. He saw his arms pass through his dad’s body..Van screamed….like a girl…
*Beeping sound*
“Van..Van..can you hear me? he’s having those sleep tantrums again…”
It was a room with equipments around. Van heard multiple beep sounds while gazing around. Van tried to move but he can’t. His legs were hung up in a metal post, his arms were bandaged heavily, only leaving his face uncovered. “Don’t tell me this is another dream?” “I don’t know my son, you were talking by yourself lately, as if you were having conversations; laughed, cried and talked at different times. We were alarmed when you screamed..What happened?” said George.
“I remember falling from a cliff, talking to my boss, and a girl named XY…did those really happen Dad?”
“Only your mom can answer that…”
Van saw her mom in tears kneeling down right at his side…”Van..you suffered from a brain damage causing you to dream and shift time unconciously. Your body muscles respond to your actions but it does not move physically in accordance to what you are doing in your dreams.
“What caused this mom? Who is XY?”
“Son, two years have passed since the incident. You were making the final preparations of the anniversary gift to your girlfriend; it was project XY. It was your forte: pyrotechnics. You placed everything discreetly in front of your girlfriend’s house. The fireworks were mid-areial making it visible and audible from a little distance. You were planning to surprise her and called her before. She said she was alone in her house and will wait for your next call. You went up a high tree in facade of her window holding the control of the fireworks, until you saw two silhouettes at the window. When the curtains opened, you saw your girlfriend with another guy. They were half-naked and were taking advantage of the moment. You were shocked and accidentally pressed the button for the fireworks. A beautiful display of fireworks paraded in front of her house. Your girlfriend, on the other hand, was astounded while looking at you straight in the eyes. Both of you were in tears, it deepened your emotion..you fell from the tree where you were sitting; you fell head first. The neighbors were the one who brought you here…”
“What was my girlfriend’s name? Where is she now?”
“I don’t know…”
“How did you know all of these things dad?
George laughed and smiled back at Van…”From your dreams son…”

"Extras" Chapter 3: XY?!
If there were words to describe the meeting of Van and Xylene; epic disaster. Their first meeting was just an embarassment. Who likes to pee in front of a gorgeous lady accidentally?
Here are some background bits and information about Xylene: She is a graduate of Chemical Engineering, a master of Chem. Eng’g and a professional chemical engineer and currently working as Head of the Research Department of a famous company, famous? therefore, is Van famous? No. Van works as a trainee in the company.
“Is it coincidence?” Van hovers his mind while working at the office. He can’t imagine himself training in a good company under great supervision. Van decided to court his boss and the conversation went like this:
(inside Xylene’s office)
V: Ma’am, I know it sounds weird…
XY:…that you like me? *laughing*
V: Uh..uhmmm…what did you just say ma’am?
XY: I know that you like me dear, from the way you look at me, as if you knew me all along..
V: Yes ma’am…a bit…*blushes*
XY: I’ll ask one straight question and I want a straight answer…How are your dreams lately?
V: What do you mean ma’am?
XY: How am I in your dreams?
Van was frozen after he heard that. How did his boss knew about the “dream” thing, did his dad tell her about it?

"Extras" Chapter 2 : Dreams
01/30/09“How was your sleep freak?” Van’s dad (George) asked him while drinking a cup of coffee. “Got a terrible dream dad, she was there again..”
“Was it a wet dream? or another sequel of your crazy XY Fantasies? *giggles* , Get up boy! You’re boss is waiting outside..”
“BOSS!?”
Van hurriedly undressed and ran to the showers naked. He quickly took a bath that his mom called “magic”. This magic bath only lasts for a minute but makes you decently clean from top to bottom. “You forgot your towel honey..” Van’s mom (Grace) talking while tossing the towel on the floor.
After he dressed and had eaten, he went outside and saw his “boss” for the first time. “Where’s the floor plan?” a huge man in a tuxedo looking like a bouncer in a bar asked him. “It’s in my disk boss…” “I’m not your boss, she’s your boss…” the huge man opened the blue Corvette’s door slowly. Van gazed at the scenery and tried to peek to the woman’s feet, then to the legs. She slowly went out in a Baywatch-like manner, she wore Romani glasses and slowly took it of to look at Van…
Van whispers to himself..”X…Y…..?, this is not a dream! this is definitely not a dream!” He plucked his eyebrows to see if he was in a deep sleep or in a dream but he wasn’t. His boss looked like his dream girl XY, Van was doubting but her features are exactly what he dreamt of. “May I take a look on the plan?” his boss said in a seductive manner. Van was not hesitant to give it, he immediately asked his boss’s name…”Um…boss?”
“Nice to meet you Van, I’m Xylene…your boss for this project”. At awe, Van’s jaw dropped. He did not noticed that he has pee on his pants. “Looks like you were in a hurry” his boss told him pointing at his private-est part. Upon hearing, he was embarassed and rushed to his room to change…

The Secret: Review
The Secret: Review
Its release in 2006 shook the foundations of the past world teachings like the Law of Karma, The Ten commandments, and the Law of Physical/Social interaction. This discovery of Rhonda Bryne presents a visual companion to her bestselling book, THE SECRET. Featured on OPRAH, the book reveals what the author sees as the time-tested secret that has been behind foretold and kept in a 100-year old book. There are also featured experts in the movie/documentation: philisophers, authors, visionaries, psychologists and quantum physicists.
The movie presents and expounds the “Law of Attraction”. The phrase Law of Attraction, although used widely by New Thought writers, has a variety of definitions. Turn-of-the-century references conceptualized the law of attraction as relating to physical structure and to how matter develops. A more modern consensus among New Thought thinkers is that the Law of Attraction says people’s thoughts (both conscious and unconscious) dictate the reality of their lives, whether or not they’re aware of it. Essentially “if you really want something and truly believe it’s possible, you’ll get it”, but putting a lot of attention and thought onto something you don’t want means you’ll probably get that too. (Wiki)
After the film’s release the book, Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham, by Esther Hicks and Jerry Hicks made the New York Times best selling list.
It received criticisms from the scientific community. They say that he law is unmeasurable therefore its unscientific. Even though Quantum Physics is at hand and related to it they say that the thoguhts cannot influence the world outside; on the course of one’s thought, it cannot control over the universe’s physical law and truths.
The Law of Attraction states that in order to control theis energy to one’s advantage, proponents state that people must practice four things:
- Know what you want.
- Ask the universe for it.
- Feel and behave as if the object of your desire is on its way.
- Be open to receiving it.
Tracing back in its history, it dates for almost 130 years from 1879 up to present. The Law varies its form and uses as the time goes by.
In conclusion, the Law shows one thing: “Feel Good”. Instead of looking life at its worst side, we must look at life at its best side (positive thinking).
I hope you learned something from this review. Thanks for visiting.
